Overview
Retrieval of trauma victims often involves managing a patient who is physiologically challenged, the diagnosis and injury profile are incompletely known, and the transfer is for urgent high-level care. Careful consideration of the risk profile, including procedures that would be unable to be performed prior to transfer, the distance and the modality of transfer need to be actively managed prior to leaving scene.
